Instructions for Mt Fuji using the 4 x 4 inch or 100 x 100 mm size hoop

Notions

  • 1.5 meters or 1.5 yards of red cotton fabric
  • ¼ meter of grey green stripe fabric
  • 2.5 meters or 2.5 yards of red rick rack
  • 2.5 meters or 2.5 yards of red piping

If you wish to use the similar or same coloured thread on the red fabric as I have done this is the colour or if you have King Star thread the number is 207.

Stitching one of the designs out on the Janome 11000 ....I test stitch all the designs using all of my machines of which I have 5.

The numbered blocks as designed.

Once you have stitched all 16 designs out

Cut away using your scissors any excess fabric from the satin stitch border

On a backing fabric (I used white cotton) zigzag stitch each of the blocks starting in the centre 03Mount Fuji_01 going down, you can see from the photo how I stitched the blocks together

The entire blocks zigzagged stitched down.

You then satin stitch over each of the zigzagged blocks, this gives your work a beautiful finish.

Instructions for the Pfaff Grand dream hoop 360 x 350mm cushion.

Black Linen Pillow

For this cushion I used a beautiful linen and black thread, which looks very stunning!

Before hooping I used a white cotton fabric, thin pellon and the linen.

  • I used the Pfaff Grand dream hoop 360 x 350mm to stitch out the design complete.
  • Hoop the white cotton fabric, pellon and the linen
  • Slide the Pfaff Grand Dream hoop into your machine and clip into place
  • Lay under all the fabric 2 layers of the stabilizer “tear away” or whatever you would like to use

All ready to sew on Pfaff CV

One thing I always like to especially when using a large hoop is use the “Basting” function key.

Pin Cushion

I purchased this wooden pin cushion from when I was at a craft show a couple of weeks ago, they only had a few items on show, when I went to their website found they had quite a few great items to use for machine embroidery http://helendafter.com.au/

I used small pieces of ribbon that I had left over from other projects for this pin cushion.

Blue Bag

I used 2 different types of blue variegated thread on this design, not deliberately, not realising it but one of the variegated threads must have been quite old and kept breaking, if you look closely you can see the two different variegated threads.

I purchased this fabulous Shibori Cotton fabric (along with many other purchases) from http://bebejapanese-textiles.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=58&zenid=7a6c85eb4a06f739298d7e9f5b799f6a they have such beautiful fabrics etc.

I purchased the navy blue leather handles from Studio Mio http://www.studiomio.com.au  another store where my credit card was very much feeling the pressure.

To give the bag that extra oriental look, I found this toggle and hand stitched it onto the bag.
